Begin with the same profile
Compare plans from the same utility using the same readings and billing periods. Switching the service territory or quietly changing the load pattern answers a different question.
Confirm enrollment rules separately. A lower modeled total cannot establish permission to join a program, waive a commitment or override a meter requirement.
Inspect the expensive hours
The rate strip on each plan page shows a representative weekday, with a table of actual prices below it. Check summer and winter periods and the utility’s holiday rules.
A flat plan may still have seasonal prices. A time-of-day plan may still have charges that do not change when you move consumption to a cheaper hour.
Keep a manual shift physically modest
The calculator’s what-if tool moves a specified amount of recorded kWh from one selected hour to another hour present in the same local day. It cannot remove more energy than the source intervals contain.
The changed intervals and the conserved energy total are visible. You choose the shift; My Power Rates does not control appliances or promise that a particular household can achieve it.
Read the result as a scenario
Applying a selected rate version to a past profile holds those inputs fixed. It does not forecast next year’s weather, behavior, tariff revisions or equipment performance.
When eligibility or a material charge is unknown, the result stays conditional or partial. A difference in known components can be useful, but it is not a total-bill savings claim.
