Monthly totals preserve energy, not timing
A monthly total says how much energy was used. It does not say how much fell into peak, mid-peak, off-peak, weekend or holiday periods. An evenly spread profile is an assumption, not a measurement.
My Power Rates’s manual monthly input therefore supports applicable flat-rate calculations. It does not quietly turn the number into a personalized time-of-day recommendation.
Flat does not mean one all-inclusive price
A plan can keep the same energy rate at every hour and still vary by season or billing tier. It can also include fixed charges, adjustments and taxes. Those charges must be included before a total becomes comparable.
If your monthly total comes from a bill that runs from the 14th through the 13th, preserve those boundaries. A calendar-month label cannot reproduce the official bill period without further information.
Use a clearly labeled example to learn
The educational profile in the calculator is synthetic. It makes it possible to inspect rate periods and the bill breakdown before importing a file. It is not a real customer, a neighborhood average or a prediction of your savings.
A complete annual scenario requires a complete comparable year. Multiplying one month by twelve would hide seasonality and missing information, so My Power Rates does not annualize that way.
